Shoalhaven Women’s Health Centre are proud to be running the It Left No Marks Workshop.

The purpose of this free Women’s Health NSW training session is to share the latest information we have on non-fatal strangulation and brain injury in the context of sexual violence and sexual choking. All the information provided in the training session is supported by Australian and international research, as well as advice and opinions gathered from experts working in this space. 

 

Duration: 1.5 hours - this includes 1 hour training followed by Q&A. 

Outcomes: 

  • What is non-fatal strangulation (NFS) 

  • The intersection between domestic family violence, sexual violence and NFS

  • The normalisation of sexual choking

  • What happens in the body when pressure is applied to the neck 

  • Signs and symptoms of NFS

  • How NFS can cause an acquired brain injury (ABI)

  • Signs and symptoms of an ABI

  • NSW strangulation laws 

  • Key considerations for responding to women who experience NFS and ABI
